AL man hurt in bomb attack

A local Awami League (AL) activist was seriously injured in a bomb attack allegedly by party rivals at Kobikhali village in Chuadanga Sadar upazila on Tuesday. The injured is Monjir Ali, 40, son of late Alim Uddin of the village. He was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Witnesses said when Monjir was taking tea at a stall in the area at night, a group of AL activists allegedly led by Golam Faruk Joarder, newly elected chairman of Mominpur Union Parishad (UP), attacked him with sharp weapons. The attackers also hurled a bomb at Monjir, leaving him seriously injured. Contacted, the UP chairman refuted the allegation.
