Air was pumped into Sagar, autopsy confirms
Autopsy confirmed that 10-year-old Sagar Barman was killed by pumping air into his body through rectum. One person has been arrested in this connection so far.
AKM Shafiuzzaman, a doctor of Dhaka Medical College's forensic department, confirmed Sagar's reason of death after conducting autopsy on the body today.
"We found abnormal swellings in the eyes, stomach and rectum – indicating that air was pumped into his body through the rectum using a hard object," he said.
The minor from Narayanganj used to work at Zobeda Textile and Spinning Mills in Jatramura area of Rupganj. Father accuses his coworkers and authorities for the death.
FACTORY MANAGEMENT SUED, 1 HELD
Last night, the victim's father Ratan Barman, who also works at the factory, filed a case over the murder mentioning the name of some management officials.
Nazmul Huda, 24, a manager of Zobeda Textile and Spinning Mills, where deceased 10-year-old Sagar Barman used to work, has been arrested, our local correspondent reports.
Others accused are the factory's Production Manager Harun-ar-Rashid, 48, Senior Production Officer Azhar Imam, 36, and Assistant Production Manager Rashedul Islam, 40.
Besides, in a drive against child labour, police today rescued at least 26 minors aged between 10 and 16 years from Zobeda Textile and Spinning Mills, ABMS Doha, sub-inspector and duty officer of Rupganj Police Station told The Daily Star.
Victim's father Ratan Barman filed the case last night with Rupganj Police Station, said Md Jashim Uddin, an inspector of the police station.
According to case statement, victim Sagar used to work at the factory where he was frequently abused and beaten up for faults. Sagar used to protest the torture.
Besides, in a drive against child labour, police today rescued at least 24 minors aged between 10 and 16 years from Zobeda Textile and Spinning Mills, ABMS Doha, sub-inspector and duty officer of Rupganj Police Station told The Daily Star.
