ACC arrests 2 UP members, dealer for graft
Anti Corruption Commission today arrested two Union Parishad members and a dealer of Bhaluka upazila in Mymensingh in two separate cases filed for irregularities in distributing rice at Tk 10 per kg under a government scheme.
The arrestees are identified as Ajim Uddin and Amirul Islam, members of ward no 3 of Bhoradoba Union of the upazila and dealer Kamrul Islam of the same area, ACC Public Relations Officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told The Daily Star.
A team of the anti-corruption watchdog arrested them from Town Hall area in Mymensingh Sadar, the ACC official said.
ACC also arrested Faruk Mia from Brahmanbaria for misappropriating 540 kg of rice that was supposed to be distributed among 18 ultra poor.
"Though there was provision to distribute 30 kg rice in one month, he took signature for two months in advance from 18 ultra poor. In this way he misappropriated 540 kg rice," the ACC official said.
