Abducted boy found murdered, 7 arrested
A minor boy, abducted from Kadimnagar village under Ghoraghat municipality on Tuesday, was found murdered at a mango orchard at the village yesterday.
The boy was identified as Parosh Chandra Saha, son of Keshab Chandra Saha. Police arrested seven people of the same village, suspecting their involvement in the abduction and murder of Parosh.
The arrestees are Zillur Rahman, 20, Mamun, 20, Ibrahim, 18, Firoz, 22, Kamal, 45, Shefali, 35 and Nurbanu, 32. Police said they will produce the arrestees before a Dinajpur court today, seeking remand for them.
Protesting the killing, villagers set fire to the houses of the seven arrestees. Being informed, firefighters from Hakimpur and Phulbari upazila headquarters rushed to the village and doused the flames.
Police said a gang of criminals picked up Parosh from near their house on Tuesday afternoon. They later demanded Tk 5 lakh as ransom from his father over cellphone.
Victim's father Keshab Chandra informed the police of the matter and filed a case with Ghoraghat Police Station in this regard.
Locals found the body of Parosh at a mango orchard at the village yesterday morning and informed the police, who recovered the body and sent it to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
