74-year-old man held for raping girl in Ctg

A 12-year-old girl has been raped by a 74-year-old man in Raozan upazila of Chattogram.

The members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab-7) arrested the rapist after conducting a drive at Raozan upazila early today.

The arrestee is identified as Sadhan Barua of Urkirchar Aburkhil Nandan-Kanan area under Raozan upazila. The victim and the accused are from the same area, said Rab sources.

The incident took place in the evening of October 1 near victim's house, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mashkur Rahman of Rab-7 (Media Wing) said, quoting the family members.

On Monday, the victim's father lodged a complaint with Raozan Police Station after the victim informed the matter to her family members, he said.

The victim and the accused are neighbors, he added.

In primary interrogation, the accused confessed his crime, reports our local correspondent quoting Rab officials.

Officer-in-Charge of Raozan Police Station Abdullah-AL- Harun said, they sent the victim to One Stop Crisis Centre of Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) today.
