Police have arrested seven youths in a case filed over killing of a schoolboy in Thakurgaon Sadar upazila.

Md Moniruzzaman, superintendent of Thakurgaon police, revealed the case details during a press briefing around 3:00pm on Sunday, reports our local correspondent.

The arrestees are: Helal Islam (22), Naeem Islam Nasir (19), Kuddus Ali Sundar (17), Ratan Islam (17), Sohel Islam (22), Al Amin Islam Shaheen (20) and Samiul Islam (26).

Among them, Helal, Nasir and Kuddus have given confessional statements to Thakurgaon Senior Judicial Magistrate Ariful Islam, SP Moniruzzaman said.

The arrestees used to stalk the elder sister of the victim, Md Rasel (14), a student of eighth-grade at Balapara High School and resident of Bhopla village in the Sadar upazila.

Rasel had protested against the stalking of his sister and engaged in a squabble with the youths in this regard, the SP said.

Later on April 24, the youths called him to a nearby Eidgah field in the village and hacked him to death with sharp weapons, leaving the body in a paddy field.

The victim's body was recovered by police from the paddy field on April 25 morning around 10:00am and was sent to Thakurgaon Modern Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy, the police official said.

Rasel's elder brother Raju Ahmed filed a case against unidentified accused in this connection with Thakurgaon Sadar Police Station.

Police officials, led by Investigation Officer Chandan Kumar Ghosh and supervised by OC Tanvirul Islam, found involvement of the seven youths in the murder case and caught the suspects.
