7 arrested for catching jatka

Members of river police in a drive arrested seven fishermen while they were catching jatka (young hilsa less then 10 inches in length) from different points of the Meghna River on Friday. A team of river police launched the drive in the river and arrested the fishermen while catching jatka, violating the ban on its netting imposed earlier by the government. The arrestees are Rashid, 30, Ibrahim, 22, Sunny, 19, Farid, 24, Deen Mohammad, 22, Akter Hossain, 22, and Siraj Bepari, 40. They hail from different parts of Sadar upazila in the district.
