6 Rohingya men held with arms in Cox’s Bazar refugee camp
Police have arrested six Rohingya men in possession of arms from a refugee camp in Cox's Bazar's Teknaf upazila.
The arrestees were identified as Nur Hossain, Mohammad Alam, Abdur Rahman, Abu Sadek, Md Amin and Jafor Alam. All are refugees of Whykong Rohingya Refugee Camp.
On information, police conducted a raid at the refugee camp and arrested the six along with arms and ammunition, said Anwar Hossain, camp-in-charge of Armed Police Battalion (APBn).
Two pistols, seven rounds of bullets and machetes were recovered from their possession, he said.
"Some unruly Rohingya men were trying establish supremacy in the Rohingya camp by creating chaos," he said, adding that they opened fire blanks to create panic in the camp.
Later, police conducted a raid there and arrested them.
A case was filed in this connection, he added.
