55-yr-old man dies from coronavirus-like symptoms in Shariatpur
A 55-year-old man today died from coronavirus-like symptoms at his home of Vedorganj upazila in Shariatpur today.
"The man, hailing from Aziz Maler Kandi village of South Tarabunia union in Vedorganj upazila, had been suffering from fever, diarrhoea and body aches for some days," Dr Md Abdur Rashid, medical officer (disease control) of Shariatpur Civil Surgeon's Office, told The Daily Star.
"The man died at his residence this morning," he said.
"He returned to his house from Dhaka's Gulistan area recently. He was in touch with some relatives in Dhaka who were infected with coronavirus," Dr Rashid also said.
"The deceased's samples have been collected and will be sent to the International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh (icddr,b) for Covid-19 test."
Tanvir-Al-Nasif, the upazila nirbahi officer (UNO), said, "The body of the deceased was buried by the Islamic Foundation as per the guidelines set by the World Health Organization (WHO)."
