5 with fake FF certificates sent to jail

Five people, arrested on charge of using fake certificates of freedom fighter (FF) to get police constable's job, were sent to jail in Pabna yesterday.

Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Rezaul Karim sent them to jail when they were produced before the court.

The accused are Rabiul Karim, son of Faraz Ali of Gobindapur village, Rahmat Ullah, son of Nazim Uddin of Gopalpur, Amirul Islam, son of Asab Ali of Gobindapur, Hafizur Rahman, son of Amanat Ali of Satbaria, and Jel Haque Ali, son of Younus Ali of Gobindapur in Bhangura upazila.

Earlier on the day, police arrested the five after they were finally selected in a police recruitment test for the post of constable under the quota for sons of freedom fighters, said Md Abdur Razzak, officer-in-charge of Bhangura Police Station.

One hundred and seventy five people were selected in the recruitment  test held in the district on September 25, he said.

During police verification, the FF certificates submitted by the arrestees were found fake, the OC said, adding that each arrestee managed fake FF certificate paying Tk six lakh to a syndicate.

They are trying their best to identify the men of the syndicate, said the police official.

 Earlier on September 8, Anti Corruption Commission arrested nine police constables on charges of using fake FF certificates to get their jobs from Sirajganj's Belkuchi upazila.
