42 more arrested in Nilphamari, Satkhira

At least 42 more people, including eight activists of Jamaat-e-Islami, were held during special drives by law enforcers in Nilphamari and Satkhira districts in the last three days.

Police in separate drives arrested three activists of Jamaat from different areas in Dimla upazila of Nilphamari on Monday night, reports our correspondent.

The arrestees are Ziarul Huq, 28, son of Afsar Ali of Kakra village, Abdur Razzaque, 45, son of Nasiruddin of Purbo Satjan village, and Abdul Hadi, son of Isahaq Ali of Dokkhin Kakra village in the upazila.

Of them, Abdur Razzaque is a 'rokon' member of the party, said police.

They were arrested on charge of planning subversive activities in the area, said the officer-in-charge of Dimla Police Station.

In Satkhira, a team of joint forces in separate drives arrested 39 people, including five Jamaat activists, in different places of the district yesterday and the day before on various charges, reports UNB.

Enamul Haque, sub-inspector of Satkhira district police, said a team comprising police, Rapid Action Battalion and Border Guard Bangladesh conducted the drives in eight upazilas and arrested the 39 people, including five Jamaat men.

Among the arrestees, 10 are from Sadar, three from Kalaroa, four from Tala, six from Kaliganj, four from Ashashuni, two from Debhata, two from Patkelghata and five others from Shymnagar upazila.
