4 suspected JMB men held in Bagerhat

Law enforcers today claimed arrest of four suspected militants of the banned Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) from Bagerhat's Kachua upazila.

They were detained from a house in Khalishakhali village early today, our local correspondent reports quoting Bagerhat police Superintendent Pankaj Chandra Roy.

The arrestees were identified as Akash Mollah, 19, a local, Habibullah Sheikh, 19, from Pirojpur, Kabirul Farazi, 26, from Nazirpur, and Mizanur Rahman, 28, from Mathbaria.

According to police, they are active members of the JMB. A pistol, some bullets, five crude bombs, five mobile phones and a computer were seized from them.

Detectives and police were tipped off about a secret meeting of the JMB in Khalishakhali. They cracked down on the area and a confrontation took place, the SP said.

Three policemen were said to have been injured in the confrontation.
