30 shops gutted

At least 30 shops were gutted in a fire at Tok Nayan Bazar in Kapasia upazila of the district yesterday noon.

Police said the fire originated from an electric short circuit at a bedding store of one Abdul Kadir and soon engulfed 29 adjoining shops.

On information, five firefighting units from Monohardi in Narsingdi, Kishoreganj and Gazipur rushed to the spot and extinguished the blaze after two hours of frantic effort.
