Star Online Report

One of the three committees formed to investigate the blast in Chattogram city did not find any sign of gas pipeline explosion in their investigation.

The four-member probe body formed by Kharnaphuli Gas Distribution Company Limited submitted their report hours after the explosion that left seven people dead.

“We did not find any sign of gas explosion as the pipeline of the gas riser and oven are undamaged despite the huge blast, GM (Engineering Service) Engineer Md Sarwar Hossain, who led the body, told The Daily Star.

He also said, “If the gas pipeline explosion took place, then the fire would be originated, but there was no sign of fire.”

The report has been submitted to the Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry, he added.

He, however, did not disclose further details of their report.

2 other probe bodies formed

Two other committees were formed to investigate the “gas pipeline blast” that claimed seven lives in Chattogram city this morning.

Chattogram District Administration formed a five member’s probe committee headed by its Additional District Magistrate AZM Shariful Hassan, Ilias Hossain, deputy commissioner of Chattogram, told The Daily Star.

“The committee has been asked to submit its report within seven working days,” he added.

On the other hand, Chattogram Metropolitan Police formed a three-member probe body headed by Deputy Police Commissioner (DC South) Mehedi Hasan. The probe body was asked to submit its report as soon as possible, police said.
