3 ‘Neo JMB’ men held for attack on Ctg traffic police box
Counterterrorism officials today claimed to have arrested three suspected members of banned militant outfit Neo JMB in connection with an attack on a traffic police box in Chattogram city in February this year.
The arrestees are: Md Saifullah, 24, a computer operator of a photocopy shop in Chawkbazar area of the port city; Md Imran, 25, a student of marketing department at Chittagong University; and Abu Saleh, 25, a student of the textile faculty at the National Political Institute, reports our local correspondent.
Acting on a tip-off, the law enforcers arrested the three after raiding a house on Baklia-DC Road in the city yesterday, Deputy Commissioner of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (north zone) Hasan Mohammad Shawkat Ali said today.
All the arrestees are members of the "Neo JMB", he said.
A pipe bomb explosion took place inside the traffic police box at Chattogram'sSholoshahar gate-2 on February 28.
Traffic Sergeant Arafat, Assistant Sub-Inspector Atauddin, and three others were hurt in the explosion.
