3 to die, 4 get life for murder

A court here yesterday sentenced three men to death and four others to life imprisonment for killing a college boy in 2008.

Additional District and Sessions Judge SM Zillur Rahman gave the verdict at noon.

The death sentence awardees and lifers are Miraj, Kalam, Jalil, Riaz, Jahidul, Faruk Khan and Abdul Mannan of Mithakhali village in Mathbaria upazila.

Of them, Miraj was tried in absentia.

According to the prosecution, Rubel, son of Habibur Rahman of the village, and an HSC first year student of Mathbaria Government College, was killed on June 22 in 2008 over a love affair with the daughter of one of the convicts Mannan.
