3 commit suicide

Three people allegedly committed suicide in Sylhet, Moulvibazar and Sunamganj districts early yesterday and on Monday night.

A housewife allegedly killed herself at Moglagaon village in Sadar upazila of Sylhet district early yesterday.

The deceased is Monowara Begum, 38, wife of Manfar Ali of the village.

Quoting locals, Officer-in-charge Akhther Hossain of Jalalabad Police Station, said Monowara, also mother of seven children, hanged herself from a tree near her house following a family feud early yesterday.

Being informed, police went to the spot, recovered the body and sent it to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital for autopsy.

In Moulvibazar, a teenage boy committed suicide at Kurbanpur village in Kulaura upazila on Monday evening, allegedly after failing pass this year's HSC exams.

The victim is Badrul Islam, 17, son of Abdul Gafur of the village.

Motiar Rahman, officer-in-charge of Kulaura Police Station, quoted victim's father as saying that Badrul hanged himself from the ceiling of his room around 7:00pm.

On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital for autopsy.

Meanwhile, away in Sunamganj, Saleh Ahmed, 23, son of late Nasir Mia of Paleshree village in Jagannathpur upazila allegedly hanged himself from the ceiling of his room on Monday night amid frustration.

Sub-inspector Anirban Biswas of Jagannathpur Police Station said Saleh's mother spotted his hanging body and informed the police.

Being informed, police went to the house and recovered the body.
