3 arms dealers held in Benapole
Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have arrested three arms dealers along with 11 pistols, 22 magazines and 50 rounds of ammunition at Ghiba border under Benapole Port Police Station today.
The arrestees are: Anarul Biswas (34), Alamgir Hossain (40) and Sajul Islam (35), reports our local correspondent quoting Lt Col Selim Reza, commanding officer of 49-BGB in Jashore.
Members of the force came up with the information at a press briefing this afternoon, the BGB official said.
A patrol team of BGB conducted a raid at the Ghiba border no-2 in Benapole early this morning, arrested the trio and recovered 11 pistols , 22 magazines and 50 rounds of bullets which were being smuggled from India, he said.
The trio had confessed to their involvement in arms trade, he added.
They were handed over to Benapole Port Police Station while a case has been filed against them in connection with the incident, Selim said.
