22 arrested while going to India illegally
Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested 22 Bangladeshi nationals while they were illegally going to India through Gatipara border point in Benapole yesterday morning.
The arrestees are Mizan Khan, 18, Riaz Ahmed, 18, Sabur Khan, 19, Sankar Lal, 18, Akhira Begum, 17, Silpi Rani, 19, Saimul Hossain, 26, Alamgir, 25, Rezaul Islam, 28, Habibur Rahman, 19, Nuruzaman, 16, Alam Hossain, 20, Ilias Hossain, 30, Tuhin Fakir, 26, Nityananda, 20, Milton Mia, 21, Ziaul Islam, 19, Jahangir Hossain, 30, Bimal Das, 22, Milon, 23, Palas Sankar, 28, and Bimal Bagchi, 30.
They hail from different areas of Gopalgang, Bagerhat and Narayanganj districts.
Giasuddin, nayek subedar of Benapole camp under BGB 26-Battalion, said the border guard, acting on a tip-off, conducted a drive in the area at 9:00am and arrested the 22 Bangladeshis while they were going to India through the border point without valid documents.
The arrestees told the BGB men that they were going to India in search of jobs. Later, BGB handed them over to Benapole Port Police Station. A case was filed in this connection with the police station concerned.
