2 stabbed to death by miscreants over smoking in Chattogram
Two friends succumbed to their injuries earlier today after being stabbed by unidentified miscreants on Thursday. The altercation began when the duo spoke up against the miscreants blowing smoke on their faces at Sitakunda upazila of Chattogram district amid the countrywide shutdown over coronavirus.
However, police are yet to nab anyone in this connection till filing the report.
The deceased were identified as Md Shahin, 25, and his friend Jahid, 27. Both were agricultural workers and residents of Sitakunda municipality, reports our Chattogram correspondent quoting police.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sitakunda Police Station Sheikh Firoj Hossen Molla told The Daily Star that "The duo was called out from their home by the killers on Thursday night and stabbed indiscriminately."
On April 22, the victims locked into an altercation followed by a scuffle with a group of youths who blew smoke on their faces when they were chatting near the municipality's adjoining rail track, the OC said.
"Continuing from the previous incident, the killers called out the duo from their house and stabbed them on the street leaving them critically injured," added the OC.
The duo was whisked off to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) where they succumbed to their injuries on Friday midnight, the OC further said.
Police are trying to arrest the killer conducting drives in different spots while a case was lodged in this connection. The bodies are in CMCH morgue for autopsy.
