2 killed, 5 injured in bus collision on the Dhaka-Mawa highway
Two people were killed and five others injured after two buses collided on the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway at Munshiganj's Louhajang upazila today.
A Dhaka-bound bus of Basumati Paribahan and a Mawa-bound bus of Prachesta Paribahan collided head-on in Chandrabari Bazar area around 3:45pm, Sharif Ahmed Kabir, station officer of Srinagar Fire Service and Civil Defence, said quoting witnesses.
Hena Begum, 60, a passenger of Basumati Paribahan, died on the spot. Six others were taken to Sholaghar Health Complex, where the bus driver of Basumati Paribahan 45-year-old Mohammad Badsha died, he told our local correspondent.
Alamgir Hossain, officer-in-charge of Louhajang Police Station, said the driver of Prachesta Paribahan bus fled the scene after the accident. Legal steps would be taken against the persons responsible for the accident after investigation, he added.
