2 killed, 3 injured in road accident in Pabna

At least two people were killed and three were injured in a road accident on Pabna-Rajshahi highway, adjacent to Pabna Sugar Mill last night.

The deceased were identified as Md Jahangir Hossain (58), a reputed businessman of Pabna district, and his neighbour Monwar Hossain Ronju (55), reports our local correspondent quoting police.

Quoting witnesses, Md Asaduzzaman, officer-in-charge of Ishwardi Police Station said the accident occurred as a speeding microbus, carrying five passengers, lost control and hit a parked lorry at Dashuria area on Pabna-Rajshahi highway at about 10:30pm yesterday.

Jahangir and Monwar died on the spot while three others sustained injuries, said the OC, adding that the injured are now undergoing treatment at a local hospital.
