2 including madrasa boy stabbed to death

Two people, including a madrasa student, were stabbed to death in Sylhet and Dinajpur districts yesterday.

Our Moulvibazar correspondent reported that a madrasa student was stabbed to death at Notunbazar area of Bishawnath upazila in Sylhet around 2:00am yesterday.

The deceased, Salman Ahmed,18, was a student of Jamiya Islamia Darul Ulum Madania Madrasa in the area.

Police said unidentified criminals stabbed Salman when he was going back to the madrasa. Later, locals found the body covered with stab wounds and informed the police.

Police went to the spot, recovered the body and sent it to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical Hospital morgue for autopsy.

The murder might have been premeditated, said Abdul Hye, office-in-charge of Bishawnath Police Station.

In Dinajpur, a man was stabbed to death in Dinajpur Sadar upazila early yesterday, reports our correspondent.

The victim was identified as Md Rafiqul Islam, 40, of Rajarampur village under the upazila.

Locals, quoted family members as saying that some unidentified criminals called Rafiq out of his house at around 12:30am. During an altercation, the criminals stabbed him and left the spot.

Family members and neighbours took him to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital in a critical state. He succumbed to his injuries at around 5:00am.

AKM Khalekuzzaman, officer-in-charge of Dinajpur Sadar Police Station, said they are trying to unearth clue to the murder and arrest the culprits involved.
