2 held for ‘rape’ in Faridpur, Brahmanbaria

Law enforcers today claimed to have arrested two men in connection with two separate incidents of rape in Faridpur and Brahmanbaria.

In Faridpur, police arrested Zahid Sheikh, 26, from Saltha upazila this afternoon in a case filed over raping a 14-year-old mentally and physically challenged girl on Saturday, said Md Delower Hossain Khan, officer-in-charge (OC) of Saltha Police Station.

The victim’s mother filed a rape case under Women and Children Repression Prevention Act against Zahid with the police station earlier in the day, he told our local correspondent.

Victim will be sent to Faridpur Medical College Hospital for medical tests, the police official said.

In Brahmanbaria, police arrested Kazi Murad, 28, a school teacher from Nabinagar upazila, in connection with raping a female student.

Kazi was arrested this afternoon after the victim’s uncle filed a case against him with Nabinagar Police Station, reports our local correspondent quoting Inspector Raju Ahmed.

The arrestee was sent to jail after he was produced in court this afternoon.

The victim was sent to Brahmanbaria General Hospital for medical tests, the police official added.
