2 die with Covid-19 like symptoms in Manikganj isolation ward

Two people, undergoing treatment at the isolation ward of Manikganj District Hospital, died last night.  

A 60-year old woman breathed her last at the hospital around 9:00pm while a 16-year-old boy died around 11:00pm, said Dr Arshad Ullah, superintendent of the hospital, today.

The woman was taken to the hospital with respiratory problems on May 21 and later shifted to the hospital's isolation ward as her condition deteriorated, said the doctor.

On May 22, the health officials collected her samples for coronavirus testing, said Arshad Ullah, adding that they are yet to receive the test results. 

The doctor also said the teenage boy was admitted to the hospital yesterday afternoon as he was suffering from breathing problem.

The patient was shifted to the isolation ward around 10:00pm after the doctors observed his physical condition, where he died around 11:00pm, said the hospital superintendent. 

Meanwhile, a total of six people, including a local journalist, tested positive with coronavirus in Manikganj in the last 24 hours, Dr Anwarul Amin Akhanda, civil surgeon of Manikganj, said.

With the six, 128 people so far were infected with Covid-19 in the district, added the civil surgeon.
