2 accused Swechchhasebak League leaders expelled

Baufal upazila unit of Swechchhasebak League has expelled two leaders from the party on charge of raping a woman and her college-going daughter in the upazila of the district on Saturday.

They are Nur Alam Mallik, vice president of ward No1 unit of Swechchhasebak League, and its organising secretary Abdur Rahim.

"We expelled them from the party as the allegation brought against them was found true," said Md Harun-ur-Rashid Khan, president of Baufal upazila unit of Swechchhasebak League.

Rahim and Mallik are accused in the gang rape case. Of them, the latter was caught by locals from the spot and then handed over to police.

The arrestee was later produced in a court that sent him to jail, said Saiful Islam, investigation officer of the case.
