144 died at hands of cops this year: Rights group
One hundred and forty-four people were killed by the hands of law enforcement agencies up until now this year, a human rights body claimed today.
All of them died in crossfires or torture or during raids, Ain o Salish Kendra said in a statement. Four others died falling sick and two had mysterious reasons and died in police custody.
The organisation said it prepared the statement based on the reports published in different newspapers and its own collected information.
Besides, total 330 children were killed, 754 children have been tortured and 36 children committed suicide after being tortured across the country, the group claimed.
Total 95 journalists were tortured, harassed, threatened and faced restrictions during discharging duties between January and September, the ASK said in the statement.
Total 466 women were raped, 26 women were killed after rape, seven committed suicide after rape and attempts were made to rape 46 women across the country, the ASK said.
