14-year-old raped in Lalmonirhat, accused still at large
Police said yesterday they are searching for a man accused of raping a 14-year-old special needs child in Lalmonirhat.
On October 3, the mother of a 14-year-old girl filed a case with Lalmonirhat Sadar Police Station accusing a 46-year old for raping her daughter that day.
Law enforcers have still not been able to arrest the accused.
The incident occurred in a village at Harati union of the upazila.
Shaha Alam, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station in Lalmonirhat confirmed the matter and said the accused was named Shamsul Alam.
Police have been conducting drives to arrest the man, the OC said today.
Medical examination of special-needs victim was completed and her samples have been collected for DNA test.
According to police, on October 3, the accused entered the girl's house when her parents were away and raped her.
Sensing something was wrong, two women rushed to the house and started shouting and screaming. Shamsul managed to flee the scene, our Lalmonirhat correspondent reports quoting police.
