14 areas declared as ‘red zone’ in Khulna

Fourteen areas in Khulna district have been declared "red zones" as the Covid-19 cases have seen a spike in those.

Alongside marking the areas as "red zones", the district civil surgeon has recommended the local administration to lock down the areas to stop the rapid rise of coronavirus infection.

The "red zones" are: Ward no. 8, 9, 14, 16, 17, 18, 19, 21, 22, 24, 28 and 30 of Khulna city; Aichgati union in Dighalia upazila and Senhati union in Rupsha upazila of the district.

Besides, except Koyra upazila, eight other upazilas in the district have been marked as "yellow zones".

Khulna Civil Surgeon Sujat Ahmed said they have already sent a list of the "red zones" and "yellow zones" to the district administration office.

The deputy commissioner will take the decision of imposing the lockdown after a meeting with the KCC mayor soon, he told our Khulna correspondent.
