1,010 dead after showing coronavirus symptoms till May 16: report
A total of 1,010 people in the country have died after showing symptoms similar in coronavirus, said the latest report of the Centre for Genocide Studies of Dhaka University today. It tallied the numbers until May 16.
The CGS report found that Bangladesh witnessed a significant fall in the number of such deaths in the last one week compared to the previous week as the latest number is 12 percent lower.
Dhaka division recorded 242 deaths with coronavirus symptoms while Chattogram recorded 185, UNB reported.
The CGS also found that the number of incidents of hospitals and doctors denying treatment to non-Covid-19 patients and patients with fever and cold is on the rise. There were at least nine incidents in which patients were denied treatment in the recent week, it added.
Bangladesh today witnessed another big jump in coronavirus cases with the detection of 1,251 more patients in a span of 24 hours, raising the total number of confirmed cases to 25,121.
The virus also claimed 21 more lives during the period, pushing up the national death toll to 370.
Meanwhile, the global death toll reached 318,465 while the number of confirmed cases across the globe stood at 4,801,282.
