1000 phensidyl bottles seized in Comilla ambulance

Members of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) detained three people, including a woman, with 1,000 bottles of phensidyl in Daudkandi upazila of Comilla early today.

Acting on a tip off, CID members set up a special check post at Daudkandi Bridge toll plaza where the law enforcers raided an ambulance around 5:30am.

They recovered the phensidyl bottles after searching the ambulance and detained three people including a woman, Mirza Abdullahel Baqui, special superintendent of CID, told The Daily Star.

The detainees are: Rebecca Sultana, 28, of Gopalganj; Mamun, 30, of Thakurgaon; and Badsha, 32, of Comilla.

They were on board the ambulance showing Rebecca as a pregnant woman on her way to hospital, the CID official said.

The three are members of a gang of drug traffickers who smuggle phensidyl from across the Comilla border.
