10 shops gutted in Barisal

At least 10 shops were gutted in a fire at Rahamatpur Bazar in Babuganj upazila of the district on Sunday afternoon.

Locals said the fire originated from an electric short circuit at a shop of one Sumon and soon engulfed the adjoining shops.

On information, firefighters rushed to the spot and doused the blaze after one hour of hectic effort.

Delwar Hossain, president of Rahamatpur Business Samity, claimed that the loss caused by the fire could go up to Tk 60 lakh.
