Ten people were injured, including a policeman and a child, in a launch accident at Boga Launch Terminal on Dhaka-Patuakhali river route yesterday.

The incident took place around 7:00pm when the Dhaka-bound MV Sundarban-14 launch's rope got torn due to the current in water and lashed on the pontoon and hit 10 persons, leaving them injured, reports our Patuakhali correspondent quoting police.

The launch was taking in passengers at the time and another launch was anchoring at the terminal when the incident took place, witnesses said.

On information, police rescued the injured and took them to hospital for treatment, said Khondakar Mostafizur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Baufal Police Station.

The launch was barred from leaving the terminal after the incident but was later released around 9:00pm since the accident was unintentional, the OC said.

Two of the injured, a police constable at Boga Police Outpost, Abul Hossain, and one eight-year old child whose identity could not be known immediately, were admitted to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital in Barishal for treatment, the police official also said.
