10 hurt in clash over land dispute

At least 10 people were injured in a clash between two rival groups over a piece of disputed land at Tinanipara village in Bakshiganj municipality of the district yesterday. Police and locals said late Nuruzzaman, father of Joynal Abedin, 55, Dulal,40, Maznu Miah, 35, and Mamun, 30, of the village, bought five bighas of land from his neighbour late Badsha Miah long ago. For the last two months, Hasmat Ali, 50, Mahajan Miah, 48, and Rafiqul Islam, 45, sons of Badsha Miah, claimed that their father sold only four bighas of the land to Nuruzzaman. When the sons of Badsha tried to make a tin-shed house on the land, they were resisted by the sons of Nuruzzaman, triggering a clash.
