10 houses locked down as student tests positive for coronavirus in Rangpur
The local administration in Rangpur has locked down 10 houses in Khandakar Para village in Mithapukur upazila's Balarhat union, after a student there tested positive for coronavirus today.
The patient has been suffering from a fever, cough and breathing problems for several days, our Dinajpur correspondent reports.
The patient, a resident of the village, went to a relative's house in Majidbari village in Munshiganj's Tongibari area after the Secondary School Certificate examinations.
He returned to his own house on March 26.
Confirming the incident, Rangpur Civil Surgeon Hirombo Kumar Roy said his sample was sent to Rangpur Medical College and he had tested positive for Covid-19 today.
Mithapukur Officer-in-Charge Zafar Ali Biswas said that 10 houses, including the patient's one, have been locked down after they were informed of the matter.
The patient was admitted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital today, he said.
