1 killed, 12 hurt in clash over fishing in Brahmanbaria

One person was killed and 12 others injured in a clash between two groups over fishing from a water body on a piece of land in Brahmanbaria's Ashuganj upazila.

The deceased was identified as Chhadir Mia (42), resident of Maishair village in the upazila, Ashuganj Police Station's Officer-in-Charge Md Jabed Mahmud said quoting locals.

One Yasin Mia set up a net to catch fish in the land adjacent to Chhadir Mia's house in Talshahar union. The clash broke out this noon when Chhadir Mia removed the net from the land.

On seeing this, Yasin and his family members stabbed Chhadir indiscriminately, the OC further said quoting locals and witnesses.

Chhadir was rushed to Brahmanbaria General Hospital where doctors declared him dead.

The body was kept at the hospital for autopsy.

Police have detained two people in this connection.
