Law minister's mother Jahanara Huq passes away

Freedom fighter and Law Minister Anisul Huq's  mother Jahanara Huq passed away at a hospital in Dhaka early today at the age of 86.

She breathed her last at the ICU of Apollo Hospital around 3:40am, Public Relations Officer of the law ministry Dr Md Rezaul Karim confirmed to The Daily Star.

Jahanara Huq was admitted to the hospital after she suffered a cardiac arrest and stroke on October 27, 2019 at her Banani residence, the PRO said.

She left behind her son Anisul Huq and a host of relatives and well wishers to mourn her death.

Her namaz-e-janaza will be held at the Water Development Board Jam-e Masjid in Banani after Zohr prayers and will be buried at Banani graveyard, the PRO said.

Her husband Advocate Serajul Huq, chief state counsel of Bangabandhu murder trial and also a close aide to Bangabandhu, died on October 28, 2002.
