109 tolas of gold, Tk 18 lakh looted in Narsingdi

Robbers looted valuables including 109 tolas of gold and Tk 18 lakh cash from five jewellery outlets and a rice selling shop in Narsingdi’s Palash upazila early today.

A group of 20/25 robbers looted the shops at Ghorashal Bazar around 3:00am, reports our correspondent from Brahmanbaria quoting police.

Two nightguards of the market said the robbers came to the market through Sitalakkhya river by speed boat and introduced themselves as members of Detective Branch of police.

Later, the gang tied up the nightguards and beat them up when the guards inquired about their identities and later raise their voice for help, they said.

They broke open the locks of the six shops and looted the valuables and cash, they added.

Md. Sheikh Nasir Uddin, officer-in-charge (OC) of Palash Model Police Station said the incident are being investigated.

Narsingdi Police Superintendent Proloy Kumar Joarder along with other high officials visited the spot this morning.
