Man with coronavirus symptoms dies in Shariatpur
A 55-year-old man with coronavirus-like symptoms died at his residence in Shariatpur's Naria upazila last evening.
Dr Shafiqul Islam, health and family planning officer in the upazila, said the man from Masura village had fever five days ago, but he recovered soon.
For the last two days, he had been complaining of diarrhea and breathing problems, the physician said.
"He died at home around 7:30pm yesterday," Dr Shafiqul said.
"We collected samples from the body for coronavirus test yesterday. The samples will be sent to icddr,b," he added.
The body was buried by the Islamic Foundation as per the guidelines set by the World Health Organization today, Mohammad Hafizur Rahaman, officer-in-charge of Naria Police Station, said.
Contacted, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Naria, Joyanti Rupa Roy, said, "Some 12 people of three neighbouring families have been placed under home quarantine as per precaution."
On April 4, a 90-year-old man from the upazila died of coronavirus.
