People of Dakkhin Kagojpukur village in Benapole municipality went on a self-imposed lockdown today morning to contain the coronavirus outbreak.

Villagers restricted the entry and exit points, putting up homemade bamboo-barricades and hanging a notice in this regard.

No one was allowed to enter or leave the area since 10:00am, our Benapole correspondent reports, citing the notice.

Only administration officials and representatives can enter the area when necessity, the notice cited.

According to locals, the youth had to patrol the area so that villagers from neighbouring areas could not enter Dakkhin Kagojpukur village.

Defying government instructions, people from neighbouring villages often used to visit Kagojpukur under Benapole in Jashore district, they alleged.
