44 madrasa students hurt after balcony collapse in Chandpur
At least 44 students of a madrasa have injured as a balcony of three-storey abandoned building collapsed at Motlab Uttor upazila in Chandpur last night.
Of the injured students, Siam, 10, was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital as his condition deteriorated, our local correspondent reports quoting Majedur Rahman Khan, deputy commissioner of the district.
The rest victims are now undergoing treatment at different local hospitals, Majedur Rahman said.
Around 100 students of AL-Amin Orphanage were carrying out a parade rehearsal on the balcony of the first floor of Farazikandi Complex ahead of the Victory Day, Abu Taher, an eyewitness said.
Suddenly, the balcony of the building collapsed, leaving the students injured, according to the eyewitness.
On information, firefighting team rushed to the spot and rescued the students with the help of local people, DC Majedul said.
