5-year-old boy burnt to death in freak accident in Panchagarh

A five-year-old boy was burned alive during a freak accident at Debiganj in Panchagarh this afternoon.

Raiyan,5, son of Rakibut Tareq of Jalashi Rowsnabag in Panchagarh municipality, was playing with a group of children when the accident happened. 

Raiyan had gone to his grandfather's house a few days ago from Panchagarh town, Officer-in-Charge of Debiganj Police Station Md Rabiul Hasan Sarcar told our Thakurgaon correspondent.

He, along with a group of children, was playing near a straw heap in Collegepara village, the OC said.

At one stage, one of the children lit a match and set the straw heap on fire.

The fire began to spread rapidly. All the children, except Raiyan, managed to escape and Raiyan was burned alive.

On information, firefighters rushed to the spot and doused the flames, but they could not save the five-year-old.
