Local admin gets Tk 52.25cr more to tackle Covid-19 outbreak

The Local Government and Rural Development (LGRD) ministry today allocated an additional Tk 52.25 crore for the different local government bodies to tackle the ongoing Covid-19 outbreak.

The money will be used to take preventive measures against the spread of the virus, conduct relief work, pay arrears and salaries of employees of municipalities and to meet other necessary requirement, said a press release of the LGRD ministry.

A general order was issued by the Local Government Division in this regard this afternoon.

Of the amount, Tk 24.45 crore was allocated for 492 upazila parishads, Tk 16 crore for 61 zila parishads, Tk 6.80 crore for 12 city corporations and Tk 5 crore for 138 municipalities, according to the release.

On March 25, the LGRD ministry allocated Tk 33.2 crore for 12 city corporations, 328 municipalities and 492 upazila parishads to provide fund for Covid-19 responses.
