Number of infected doctors across the country crosses 200
The number of doctors infected with Covid-19 so far crossed 200 today morning, according to a tally of the Bangladesh Doctors Foundation.
More than 200 doctors from government, private and specialised hospitals were infected with Covid-19 till 11am today, Nirupam Das, chief administrator of the foundation, told The Daily Star.
The main reason behind the high rate of infection among doctors and other health workers in Bangladesh are the "poor quality" of personal protective equipment (PPE) provided to doctors, community transmission of the virus and patients' concealment of Covid-19 symptoms, he noted.
A doctor of Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital who was infected with the virus, died at Kurmitola General Hospital on Wednesday.
Apart from doctors, nearly 150 healthcare workers including nurses were infected with the virus so far.
