First coronavirus case confirmed in Sunamganj

A woman in Sunamganj today tested positive for coronavirus, making it the first confirmed case in the district.

Sylhet Divisional Health Office confirmed the case today after testing samples of the 33-year-old woman, said Dr Shams Uddin, civil surgeon of Sunamganj, said.

The woman was in home quarantine after she recently started to show symptoms associated with the novel coronavirus, reports our Sylhet correspondent.

Later, the Sylhet Divisional Health Office collected her samples for testing, said the civil surgeon.

The test came back positive, the health office confirmed to the civil surgeon this morning.

The woman is at her home and will be taken to hospital soon, said Sylhet Divisional Health Office Assistant Director (disease control) Dr Md Anisur Rahman.
