Couple with coronavirus sent to isolation ward in Kushtia after fleeing Dhaka
A couple, who fled from their house in Dhaka after testing positive for coronavirus, was taken to the isolation ward of a hospital in Kushtia last night.
The 31-year-old man and his 24-year-old pregnant wife are now undergoing treatment at the isolation unit of Kushtia General Hospital, said Dr Taposh Kumar Sarker, residential medical officer (RMO) of the hospital.
They are in good physical condition, the RMO added.
Dr M Nurul Islam, civil surgeon of Rajbari, said they had information that a couple, who tested positive with coronavirus, were going to Kushtia from Dhaka via Rajbari.
Later, a team of health officials rescued them from in front of Ratan Clinic on Kushtia-Rajbari regional highway in Rajbari district yesterday evening, he said.
They were going to their village home Philipnagar of Doulatpur upazila by a battery-run auto-rickshaw, said the doctor.
Later, the deputy commissioner of Kushtia took the initiative to take the couple to the hospital, he added.
Quoting the couple, our Kushtia correspondent reports that the couple live in a rented house in Kamrangirchar of the capital. They left Dhaka yesterday in a bid to go their village home in Kushtia as the man tested positive with Covid-19 on Wednesday while his pregnant wife's positive test result came on Thursday.
