5 more infected with coronavirus in Tangail
Five more people in Tangail have tested positive with coronavirus, bringing the district's total to seven, said officials.
The Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) confirmed the cases, said Dr Mohammad Waheduzzaman, civil surgeon in Tangail, this morning.
Of the five new infected, three came from Dhaka and two from Narayanganj recently, the civil surgeon said.
Of them, three are residents of Bhuapur upazila while two are in Madhupur and Nagarpur upazilas, reports our Tangail correspondent.
Meanwhile, local administration declared the five villages, where the patients are, locked down.
Bhuapur upazila health and family planning officer Dr Mohiuddin Ahmed said they sent samples of nine people, who returned home from Dhaka and Narayanganj, to the IEDCR for conducting test yesterday morning and of them, three were positive.
Dr Rubina Akter, upazila health and family planning officer in Madhupur, said they sent 11 samples to the IEDCR on Sunday morning and of them, one, who came back to the village from Narayanganj recently, tested positive.
Dr Md Rokonuzzaman Khan, upazila health and family planning officer in Nagarpur, said they got one positive out of 17 samples sent to the IEDCR on Saturday and Sunday.
The infected man, a shop employee in Dhaka, returned to the village recently, the official added.
Besides, earlier two more coronavirus infected people were found in Mirzapur and Ghatail upazilas in the district.
