One more tested positive for Covid-19 in Shariatpur

One more person has tested positive for coronavirus in Shariatpur, bringing the district's total number of confirmed cases to six.

The International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh (icddr,b) confirmed the test result last night, said Shariatpur Civil Surgeon Dr SM Abdullah Al Murad.

The 53-year-old man came to Shariatpur's Jajira upazila from Dhaka recently, the civil surgeon added.

"The man is a vegetable seller in Dhaka's Kawran Bazar. He returned to Uttar Kebalnagar village on April 4," Dr Mahmudul Hasan, Jajira upazila health and family planning officer, said.

"We sent his samples to icddr,b on April 13, and the results came back positive," he said.

"The patient will undergo treatment at home in isolation, as his condition is not bad," the official added.

Local administration locked down some 10 houses around the house of the infected, following the test result, said Md Zahidul Islam, upazila nirbahi officer of Jajira.
