Only 332 of 23,000 returnees in Jashore quarantined

A total of 23,000 Bangladeshi expatriates have returned to Jashore from different countries in the last month, but only 332 people were placed in home quarantine.

Mohammad Shafiul Arif, deputy commissioner of the district, said they have a list of people who had returned from foreign countries in the last month, but they could only quarantine 332 as they did not have much information on the rest.

The district administration has a formed a committee headed by the deputy commissioner and sent the list of the returnees to the concerned authorities in all eight upazilas to find the returnees, our Benapole correspondent reports quoting the DC.

Separate committees have also been formed with the UP chairmen and members in every union parishad in the district to trace the returnees.

As per the government's recent decision, all of the returnees from foreign countries must be in home quarantine as a measure against the coronavirus pandemic.
