Coronavirus fears: 5 houses locked down in Jashore

Local authorities have locked down five houses in Chowgachha upazila of Jashore after a teenager of the area was admitted to hospital with symptoms similar to that of coronavirus infection.

The girl was admitted to the isolation ward of Jashore General Hospital around 8:30 last night, reports our Benapole correspondent quoting Dr Arif Ahmed, residential medical officer (RMO) of the hospital.

Samples were collected from her and sent to Dhaka's Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) for testing today, the RMO said.

Meanwhile, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Jahidul Islam and his team locked down five houses around the girl's house, said Jashore Civil Surgeon Dr Sheikh Abu Shaheen.

People who came in contact with the girl in recent times were also asked to remain quarantined, the civil surgeon added.
